Big Brown Furniture

At the auction last weekend, my father in law bought us a beautiful sideboard for our dining room on a whim. Of course it was Big Brown Furniture. The people at the auction helped them load it into the truck but when they got it home... it was all up to Jeremy and Daddy Fudge. So let the hilarity ensue:

This was about the 7th or 8th time trying to back the truck up just right to the front porch.

Big Brown Furniture in all its glory
Jeremy directing...

and trying to explain how they are going to get the furniture from the bed of the truck to the porch...

over this hole.
HEAVE!

Made it to the Porch

Now trying to figure out how to get it to the Dining room

Jeremy got a booboo

Isn't it Purdy?? I Love it! Can't wait to put our china in it

Craftaholics Handmade Craft Exchange Summer 2012

Yay! It's time for Craftaholics Anonymous' Summer Craft Exchange! I absolutely LOVE to do these things! You get to meet other crafters from around the country and you get a really cool present in the mail! Whoohoo. So this time around I was given the absolute pleasure of making Stephanie from California a super awesome present. When I emailed her to get to know a little more about her she said that she loved "modern stuff, her favorite color is silver, and she love love loves GLITTER". So I took the silver and glitter and ran with it.

This is Stephanie's Super Awesome box-o-stuff
She got 2 little bird glitter ornaments (made out of scrapbook paper, glitter, and empty cardboard ribbon spools)

She also received 2 silver glitter votive holders and a blue glitter ornament
And finally to help her stay organized and show off some bling, Stephanie got black and white paperclip bookmarks, some glitter clothespins and ribbon, and a fabulous pink glitter ring!

Stephanie I hope you LOVE everything!! Enjoy!

Guest Post: There are so many colors, man

Testing 123......Testing 123. Um, hi. This is Jeremy, Kim's husband and the perennially most awesome person in the room. So, Kim told me that I would "get" to dress her for a week and be my "paper doll". Now, at first I was suspect because this sounded somewhat like work, and I've never been particularly fond of that. It turned out that it was even more difficult than I thought. First of all, I never realized that so many colors existed. I mean like every color in the rainbow and 24 derivatives of each one. Half of my closet is khaki. So, after I recovered from my color induced epileptic fit, I got down to business. I tried to choose colors that I had always liked on Kim. The first day I went with blue. Kim said she looked like a kindergarten teacher, but I say if you are going to do a thing, then go all out. Blue dress, blue headband, blue earrings, blue socks and probably even blue tongue, but we didn't have the right flavor Popsicle. Still, I thought it was a pretty well coordinated effort. The next day I went with pink, save for jeans capris (and yes ladies, I do know what capris are....5 points!). Kim said it was much better. After that, I decided after so much color a little neutrality would be nice, and since it was frigid out, I chose the white long-sleeved top and jeans. After all, simplicity is usually brilliance. I almost liked this one best of all of them. Friday, it had been cloudy every day for like four days, so I needed something bright to stare at, and I figured hey, why not Kim! Again, I think she thought it looked like a teacher's outfit, but I couldn't tell since I had been blinded by my own colorful awesomeness. Finally on Saturday, I let her wear a skirt she just bought and a neutral top and headband. I think it was probably my second best. All in all, I think I did pretty good. I spent more time dressing her one day than I spend on myself all week. Which honestly gives me new respect for you, ladies. No wonder it takes you so long to dress! How you ever manage to reach into that rainbow and pull out just the right things is pretty amazing!

Jeremy's Paper Doll: Day 4 & 5

Friday's Outfit

Saturday's Outfit
So overall, I think Jeremy did a GREAT job! He did pick a few headbands and a couple of pieces of jewelry I would never put together, but it looked pretty good! I really enjoyed this experiment. I loved not standing in front of my closet for 15 minutes wondering what I would wear that day. I may have to do this again. What do yall think? oh and look for Jeremy's response later today: he's going to do a guest blog post!

Toilet Paper Tube Monster Mash

So, I don't know if you are like me, but I feel like I am constantly putting a new toilet paper roll in the bathrooms. So what do you do with the used ones? Well I used to throw them away, but then I started seeing those toilet paper roll wreaths online. So I thought, hey, I'll just start saving them! Well I made a few wreaths but it just wasn't enough. I wanted to paint something. I know Halloween is a long time away, but it is my FAVORITE holiday next to Christmas, so I figured I'd paint some cute Halloween couples on the empty toilet paper tubes and use them this year as decoration. So here you go. All I used was my imagination, toilet paper tubes, and some paint. All the backgrounds were drawn free hand on construction paper. I LOVE how they turned out. My favorite has to be the Bride of Frankenstein. She just turned out so cool looking. Monster Fans Enjoy!

Memorial Day Weekend In Charleston

For Memorial Day weekend my Mom and Dad decided to come and stay for a night in Bamberg and go on a fun Charleston adventure. It was so nice to have my parents over and help them relax a little bit. They both have been working so hard, they really needed a nice relaxing break. So the night they came, we of course had to have a big southern style dinner. Mom and Dad Fudge came over and we all sat down to shrimp and grits, tomato pie, salad and strawberry shortcake. It was delicious, if I do say myself. We had a light breakfast the next morning which consisted of coffee and blueberry muffins. Then we were off to Charleston for the day. We just walked around King Street when we got there and then we enjoyed a wonderful lunch/brunch at 82 Queen. If you have never been to this restaurant...GO. They have the best She-crab soup I have every had in my life. It is like candy. Everyone enjoyed it. After lunch we walked to the Unitarian Church, looked around their graveyard, and then had a lovely tour of the church. Then we walked to some of the Art shows that were part of Spoleto. It was so much fun! For our next trip I promised Mom we would go antiquing in Aiken. Can't wait!
