Gregg in G-Vegas

This past weekend, Jeremy and I got to go to Greenville to visit our dear friend John and his awesome girlfriend Angela. You see, Monday is John's birthday and we just had to see him! We had not visited since the wedding and that is just way too long. We went out to dinner, watched movies, went shopping, and hung out. It was so much fun!

Aren't they cute?

So this year for John's birthday, he decided to have a cookie contest (with prizes)! I was just too happy to oblige. Jeremy and I wracked our brains trying to figure out what to make into a cookie that just SCREAMED John. Cupcakes? Transformers? Then I had the light-bulb moment - Gregg the Face Eating Caterpillar! It was too perfect. Let me explain; when we were in college John and Jeremy saw the biggest caterpillar ever and John promptly said that "it was going to eat his face off". That then gave him an idea for a children's book called "Gregg the Face Eating Caterpillar" and it would be very similar to the hungry hungry caterpillar book. See, Gregg would go around as an angry, grumpy caterpillar and eat people's faces off. Then when he becomes a butterfly all the faces would be on his wings and when he flew around he would give everyone a face back. Cute right? I'm still waiting for my copy (hint hint John). So without further ado, here is our rendition of Gregg the Face Eating Caterpillar forever immortalized in handmade cookie.

Roar! I'm gonna eat your face!

Yay! Now I'm a beautiful happy butterfly with happy faces to give back!

John with his awesome cookies.

So the cookie contest does not end until tomorrow night, so hopefully John will announce the winner tomorrow or Tuesday. Wish us luck!

Wacky Cake

So yesterday Jeremy and I got to go and have dinner with my cousin and her family. And Ashley asked me to bring a dessert. I was like yay! ... wait... Ava is allergic to eggs and nuts... what in the world am I going to make? So I got onto Google and typed in Eggless/ Nutless desserts and over and over again "Wacky Cake" came up. So I decided what the hey, I'll try it. The cool thing about this cake is that there are no eggs, no dairy, and no nuts. It was amazing! So moist and chocolatey. So I decided to share the recipe with you.
I found this particular recipe on Savory Sweet Life.

Chocolate Wacky Depression Cake

INGREDIENTS:
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup white sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt (optional)
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 cup cocoa powder
6 tablespoons vegetable oil (I used olive oil instead)
1 tablespoon white vinegar
1 cup water

DIRECTIONS:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a medium mixing bowl, mix all the dry ingredients together by hand. Add all the wet ingredients until well combined. Pour into a 8×8 pan which has been prepared with non stick spray.

Bake for 30 until done. Allow to completely cool before serving.

So now I had a chocolate cake. YUMMY! But I thought it was a little plain so I dressed it up a little with an orange glaze/icing. So to make this:

Mix 2 cups of powered sugar with 1tsp orange zest and 2tblsp of orange juice.

So in the other words, we kicked this cake up a notch and it went from yummy to super yummy! Enjoy!!

What I'm looking forward to:

The two things I am most looking forward to moving are :

First: This HUGE backyard!! (2 1/2 acres)

I'm thinking a container vegetable and herb garden, garden parties, lemonade and croquet, star gazing, and just being lazy in the hammock. It's going to be wonderful!!!

And 2: I get my own CRAFT ROOM!!! I'm am so super excited I can't stand it! Look at all those beautiful windows! And all that space! I will be able to work on all my jewelry at a real table with better light! I won't have to work on the floor anymore! This is so major yall. I can't wait! I promise I will post pictures of when I am done decorating and settling in.

Packing up

Well I have started the daunting task of packing some of our stuff up. Mom keeps bringing us boxes and I have already run out. I feel like every time she brings a load of boxes I'm like "woah...that's a lot of boxes; we'll never fill all those". WRONG. I barely broke the surface and I'm out of boxes. We don't have anywhere to put said boxes yet so they are starting to take over our living room. I can't wait till Feb. 15 so we can start getting the new house ready to move in. Basically all we need to do is paint a few rooms and we can start taking some (read MOST) of the boxes we have ready to go.

It's kind of sad packing everything up. I really love the house we are in right now but taxes are stupid and it's so expensive living here. Not to mention we are busting at the seams with stuff. Oh and on that note, I'm planning to go through all of our stuff while we are packing and make three piles: throw away, keep, and donate. Does anyone know a good place to donate clothing? Or should I throw a clothing swap party? What do you think?

Happy New Year!

Sorry I have not blogged lately. Big things are happening in the Fudge Household. I'm so excited to share them with you but I won't just yet. We are supposed to get some more news tomorrow so hopefully I will update this blog with the news on Wednesday. So check back in a few days.

Other than that... how was your New Years? We had a very laid back New Year's Eve. Papa Fudge gave us some champagne and we basically watched TV, drank champagne, watched the ball drop, and went to bed. It was actually kinda nice being so laid back. Did yall do anything fun? or did you also enjoy a lazy transition to 2012?

Do yall have any resolutions this year? Mine are usually the same EVERY year: lose weight, eat right, exercise more... Well I noticed on a few blogs that I read that some people assign a word or two to define the upcoming year. So, I gave it a lot of thought and decided that my words for 2012 are going to be CREATE and CHANGE.
Create because I am going to start up my craft and jewelry business again this year. I'm super excited. I've already got some great ideas for some new necklaces and I've decided to add hair accessories also. I'm going to call all the hair accessories "Kimmy Blossoms".
Change because there are going to be some major changes to our lives this year. We made our first "adult" decision as a married couple (more to come on Wednesday, remember?) Also because this year we are going to change all of our liabilities into assets. Finding jobs has been very challenging, we still have our fingers crossed that we will find something that will be a good fit but until then we have decided to put our hobbies and knowledge to work for us. (more on Wednesday too, I promise)
